General Info

Located at 23 & 25, Jalan Sri Bahari, George Town, 10050 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, Foong Wei Heong Restaurants is a well-known Chinese restaurant that offers a satisfying dining experience in the heart of George Town. From the moment I arrived, the welcoming atmosphere and attentive service created a comfortable setting for both casual meals and special gatherings.

One of the standout features of Foong Wei Heong Restaurants is its carefully prepared menu, which showcases several signature dishes that keep diners coming back. The Steamed Giant Garouper with Soy Sauce is a highlight, featuring delicate fish enhanced by a flavorful soy-based seasoning that complements the freshness of the seafood. Another popular choice is the Shark's Fin Soup with Dry Scallop & Crab Meat, a rich and hearty dish that delivers a satisfying blend of textures and flavors.

During my visit, I also had the opportunity to try the Claypot Tofu, which arrived piping hot and packed with savory goodness. The tofu was soft and flavorful, making it an excellent accompaniment to other dishes on the table. Equally memorable were the Oyster Noodles, a comforting option that combines tender noodles with fresh oysters for a balanced and enjoyable meal. For those looking for something nourishing, the dish featuring Sea Cucumber & Vegetable offers a classic combination that reflects traditional Chinese culinary preferences.

The restaurant also serves alcohol, making it suitable for celebratory meals and relaxed social gatherings. For added convenience, reservations are accepted, helping diners secure a table during busy periods. Modern payment options, including NFC mobile payments, further contribute to a smooth and hassle-free visit.

What stood out most during my experience was the consistency across the menu and the comfortable dining environment. Its combination of signature dishes, practical amenities, and inviting atmosphere has earned positive reviews from many diners exploring dining locations in George Town. “ Authentic chinese restaurant Steamed chicken with wine-The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, infused with the aromatic fragrance of Chinese cooking wine. Plum sauce pork rib- kids favorite Brinjal stuffed with prawn meat- abit like yong tau foo, dun really taste prawn meat stuffed, it looks like fish paste. Spinach soup with eggs and century eggs- Chunks of salted egg! Light yet nourishing – the perfect soothing soup to balance the meal. Steamed egg- not in the menu Super smooth and lots of century eggs and salted egg yolks chunk Beancurd claypot-silky smooth tofu with minced pork, salted fish. A rich, hearty, and utterly satisfying. Fried prawn roll- Crispy on the outside, packed with juicy prawn filling inside. That perfect crunch followed by the fresh, bouncy prawn taste The steamed chicken, claypot beancurd, and fried prawn rolls were my absolute highlights – I’d come back just for those! Highly recommended. ”

“ One of our family restaurant where we have been there for at least the last twenty odd years. No fuss Cantonese cuisine or chu char in town. This place will never goes wrong be it lunch or dinner. Reservation is a must during weekend as it’s always getting very crowded in no time. RM10 corkage for byo drinks, be it liquor, wine or beer. Highly recommended for its taste but probably not the ambience if you want something premium. ”

“ Great location right near Penang Road. This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with comfortable seating, great service from patient and nice waiters and waitresses, and fresh ingredients. So many delicious dishes to choose from—it’s best for groups of 6 or more to share and enjoy the variety. They mainly have medium to large tables, so if you’re just 2 people, you’ll struggle to order because you’ll always want more than you can eat! Actually, I didn’t want to review this place because it’s already so popular and crowded among locals. Remember to book your table during holidays! ”
